Minecraft: The Biggest Online Sandbox Game

Minecraft is a sandbox game in which you can create structures and more with simple building mechanics, set in a procedurally-generated blocky world. You can play in survival, where hunger and aggressive monsters are added, or creative mode, where you can build without worrying about monsters and running out of blocks. It is a well-known game, with good reason. It boasts infinite possibilities for building, survival mode, and even online multiplayer. It also helps foster creativity for children and is child friendly. 

One of Minecraft’s best features is the ability to modify the game to add more mobs, weapons, and new features such as cars and planes. Minecraft also supports adding custom resource packs, which makes it seem more realistic and scenic. Along with importing premade worlds, you can transform Minecraft into a shooter game, a racing game, and more. The extensions can lag your game, but it may be worth it for the experience they provide.

Additionally, Minecraft supports online servers to play together with other people on the internet. These servers are customizable with add-ons as well. Some servers have gotten creative with this and replicated many other games and shows in Minecraft. For example, Pokémon has been recreated in Minecraft, and so has The Walking Dead. The problem with public servers is that many contain excessive violence, which the Minecraft developers should set a limit on, as it is a game for children.

Minecraft Education Edition is also a great tool to teach children about coding. It allows children to write a series of commands to make their robot complete tasks, such as plowing a field for a farmer or even building small structures.

Many schools worldwide have begun using Minecraft Education Edition to teach students to code and even to teach math. Mojang Studios did a study on students who used Minecraft along with the curriculum to learn versus students who only did the curriculum, and the students who used Minecraft were much more confident and comfortable doing math. I have used Minecraft in the classroom before, and it helps to make learning more fun and interactive. For students who learn visually, Minecraft can be especially beneficial. 

Minecraft is most well-known for the creativity it promotes. The building system can help to spark creativity and imagination in the minds of young children. Older children can even code their Minecraft servers for anything they want, from a car game to a chat and chill lounge server.

Minecraft is a fun game that teaches students to build and code while maintaining a creative environment. It boasts the ability to create online interactive experiences featuring your favourite media. The only word of improvement I have for Minecraft is to moderate the amount of violence in public servers for all the children playing Minecraft. It would also be highly appreciated by the Minecraft community if the game was able to run on older computers. Overall, Minecraft is a great game with multiplayer support and encourages lots of creativity.
