Writing for Wave: Editorial Guidelines

Wave Blog is a youth platform created by the Ripple Foundation to celebrate student voices, creativity, and thoughtful ideas. Through the blog, students share their experiences, perspectives, and stories with readers across the community.

What We Encourage

Our goal is to create a respectful and inspiring space where young writers can express themselves while engaging readers from across the community.

We welcome writing that reflects the creativity, experiences, and perspectives of students. Topics may include:

  • Tips and Advice
Sharing practical ideas, lessons learned, or guidance that may help fellow students navigate school and life.
  • Lived Experiences
Personal stories and reflections about school, identity, challenges, growth, and meaningful moments.
  • Books & Movies
Review, compare, or recommend books and movies that made an impact on you.
  • Creative Writing
Share writing tips, inspiration, or anything related to the craft of storytelling.
  • Ripples of Thought
Express your personal reflections, opinions, and unique perspectives on topics that matter to students.

We also encourage writing that explores themes such as:

  • Stress & Mental Health, including how students cope with pressure and build resilience
  • New Beginnings, including moving to a new country, adapting to a new school, or starting a new chapter in life

Wave Blog celebrates authentic student voices, thoughtful reflection, and creative expression.

What We Do Not Publish

To maintain a respectful and inclusive platform, Wave Blog does not publish content that includes:

  • Political advocacy or criticism of political parties, governments, or public policy
  • Religious promotion or debate
  • Content that discriminates against individuals or groups
  • Personal attacks, harassment, or inflammatory language
  • Content that violates copyright or is copied from other sources

Our focus is on creative expression, personal experiences, and constructive ideas.

Respectful Writing

We encourage writers to approach topics with curiosity, empathy, and respect for diverse perspectives. Thoughtful discussion is welcome, but content should aim to inform, inspire, or reflect rather than provoke or divide.

Editorial Review

All blog posts are developed through an editorial process. Student writers work with Wave Blog editors to refine their ideas, strengthen their writing, and prepare their pieces for publication.

We may decide not to publish a piece if it does not align with the platform’s goals.

Wave Blog is part of the Ripple Foundation’s mission to encourage youth literacy, creativity, and thoughtful dialogue.
